exclusive: West Ham transfer dream destroyed, with Arsenal and Tottenham to offer ‘better deals’ for lethal striker

West Ham United may have to wait as one of their main transfer targets moves to a Premier League opponent, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur apparently vying for a hot striker first.

West Ham will like to sign a new centre-forward, preferably in January. With Michail Antonio out injured and David Moyes preferring not to start Danny Ings, winger Jarrod Bowen has been chosen up front in recent weeks.

Bowen has performed admirably, using his toughness and pace to lead West Ham’s forward line while also contributing key goals. Although this is not a long-term answer for Moyes, Bowen’s recent ankle injury has highlighted the need for forward reinforcements.

West Ham are big fans of Santiago Gimenez, who has been a standout for Feyenoord over the last two seasons. The Mexico international scored 28 goals in 50 games last season, and he appears to be on track to break that total this season, having already scored 20 goals in 22 appearances.

This includes Eredivisie hat-tricks against Ajax and Excelsior, as well as a Champions League brace against Lazio.

On Saturday, it was reported that West Ham would cash in on Nayef Aguerd, Said Benrahma, and Ings to fund Gimenez’s signing.

However, West Ham have now suffered a setback in their

This is because the two North London teams can offer Feyenoord ‘better bargains’ than West Ham. Feyenoord have placed his asking price at £30-40 million, although this might climb if he continues to score and Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham enter a bidding war.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in signing Santiago Gimenez.
Feyenoord officials see Gimenez as critical to their prospects of success this season and are hoping to keep him in January. Feyenoord will be lot more willing to negotiate his exit in the summer.

This, combined with Arsenal and Tottenham’s interest in Gimenez, could compel West Ham to look at alternative strikers.

One is Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, but his excellent Bundesliga form makes him desired.
