Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s heard about Jose Mourinho joining West Ham United in 2024

The most recent information that Fabrizio Romano has learned about Jose Mourinho potentially replacing David Moyes at West Ham in 2024 has been shared.

According to reports, the Hammers are thinking about extending the contract of the present manager, and they may be interested in bringing the multiple European champion to the London Stadium next summer when Moyes’s contract expires.

However, despite prior interest, Romano disclosed in his Daily Briefing on 28 October that there has been no communication between the two sides and that West Ham is now supporting Moyes.

“Despite previous West Ham interest, Mourinho is not in contact with any other club than Roma since he rejected a huge proposal from Saudi in June,” he wrote.

“At the moment the situation has not changed. Also, West Ham keep backing Moyes so we will see what happens in 2024.

West Ham have tried bringing in big-name managers before, with Manuel Pellegrini being the most obvious failure that we attempted to change the culture of the club.

But Mourinho would be a totally different appointment because he has been in the Premier League before and had huge success, and has shown that his style of football is eerily similar to what our fans have come to expect.

He likes to build from a solid defence first and use individual quality in attack with a big target man to lead the line and bring others into play.

With that said our squad would suit him very well right now but he would certainly be an upgrade on Moyes when it comes to his profile and results on the biggest stage, so it would potentially be shrewd.

There is an argument that he is past his best and he would no doubt be expensive, but if he’s available and willing to come then it’s something that should definitely be explored.
