West Ham technical director Tim Steidten is plotting a double Bundesliga deal for Piero Hincapie, according to a fresh report.
Tim Steidten usually gets what he wants, as West Ham discovered during the summer transfer window.
West Ham’s German technical director has become a cult figure in a short period of time after assisting the Hammers in pulling off one of the best transfer windows in their modern history.
When talisman Declan Rice was sold to rivals Arsenal, West Ham finished pre-season with a humiliating thrashing at the hands of – perhaps ironically – Steidten’s former club Bayer Leverkusen.
But he would go on to help the Hammers make the best use of the Rice money, bringing in Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse, and Konstantinos Mavropanos for a total of £122 million.
Of course, David Moyes, David Sullivan, and the West Ham board deserve credit as well.
But it was Steidten who got the agreements done. So much so that West Ham fans only felt a signing was imminent after seeing a photo of the player on a plane with the German.
But they say there is no rest for the wicked. And, as the kids and Ali G may say, Steidten is wicked.
The in-form 27-year-old created a new Bundesliga record over the weekend by becoming the first player in Bundesliga history to score 13 goals in the first seven games of the season.
West Ham, without a doubt, require a new striker to eventually replace Michail Antonio.
And Guirassy has been linked with the Hammers in almost every window since Moyes’ return in 2020, including this summer.
Steidten scouting old haunts for Antonio and Ogbonna heirs?
According to a recent source, West Ham technical director Steidten is plotting a double Bundesliga deal with a £35 million raid on his old club for striker Piero Hincapie.
The Hammers are reportedly considering a move for Guirassy. They also want Ecuador international defender Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen.
The 21-year-old has now appeared in 27 international matches for his country.
The left-footed center defender can also play at left-back, where West Ham will require a young player to cover Emerson in the coming seasons.
The Hammers are now interested.’
West Ham will also want a replacement for left-footed centre-back Angelo Ogbonna, who is scheduled to retire at the end of the season.
According to Claret and Hugh, Steidten is interested in Hincapie, but any move will not be cheap.
“Hincapie has been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga but the Ecuadorian international opted to stay,” according to the newspaper.
“Now the Hammers are keen which comes as no surprise given Steidten will know the player from his Bayer Leverkusen days.
“Steidten – with great contacts at the club – will know Hincapie well and will hope to use that very much in his negotiations. Having signed a deal until 2027 back in February, he won’t come cheap with an estimated price of £35 million on his head.”
