West Ham United face a race against time to sign Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy in January after he was offered a new deal, report 90min
Writing on their official website (26 October), the news outlet report that the in-form striker has attracted the attention of several clubs across Europe including West Ham after scoring 15 goals in nine games.
The forward’s contract has a €17.5 million (£15.2 million) release clause, but the Bundesliga team acted swiftly to thwart any attempts by anyone to recruit him at that price by extending an offer to him.
In recent weeks, a number of Premier League clubs have taken notice of his form. According to 90min, West Ham, Fulham, Brentford, Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth have all sent scouts to watch the Guinea international.
“90min also knows that Burnley and Everton have been closely monitoring Guirassy’s progress and are interested parties.”
“Stuttgart has extended an offer to their prolific goalscorer at the MHPArena, but given the current situation, it appears more likely that Guirassy will test the market in the coming year.”
If the summer transfer window taught us anything, it’s that Tim Steidten is adept at completing transfer agreements that are hassle-free and benefit all parties involved.
That would be extremely helpful in this situation for Guirassy, whose play this season has elevated him above players like Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane, and Erlin Haaland as the best marksman on the continent.
Gianluca Scamacca’s departure from West Ham in the summer left a glaring hole in their lineup, and with Michail Antonio and Danny Ings’ futures at the team in doubt, this might be the perfect answer.
Considering his age of just 27 and his form, he would be as cheap as chips, and his style of play seems to align with David Moyes’s preferred playing approach.
If he ends up going elsewhere for such a small sum, it will be our loss as there is a lot of competition, but not many teams larger than West Ham can offer what we can offer with a starting berth too.
