Arizona releases statement on suspension of WVU PG

A statement regarding Kerr Kriisa’s suspension related to his time at Arizona has been released by the University of Arizona.

Kerr Kriisa, the point guard for West Virginia University, was suspended by the NCAA for nine games. WVU made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon. The University was careful to emphasize in that statement that the purported problem originated during his tenure at the University of Arizona. That portion of WVU’s statement appears to have been refuted by the Wildcats Athletic Department, who just released a comment on the subject.

After leaving the University of Arizona, the sports department learned of a possible NCAA problem involving a former men’s basketball student-athlete. The NCAA, West Virginia University, and the athletics department conducted a transparent and cooperative assessment of the case. The investigation verified that no coaches or employees of Arizona Athletics were involved.

The University of Arizona’s compliance processes and instruction met or beyond the NCAA’s criteria and national best practices, according to its study. The NCAA’s review resulted in no fines or corrective measures for the University of Arizona.

The athletics department will have no further comment on the matter and wishes the former student-athlete the best moving forward.
