Wigan Athletic sign Charlton star for free

A League One competitor has presented a chance, according to the most recent Blackpool transfer news.
After being released, Blackpool may now be given the opportunity to sign a player linked to them this winter from Charlton Athletic.

Terrell Thomas and a move to Bloomfield Road were frequently linked by Football Insider prior to and during the January transfer window. It was reported that they had expressed interest in December along with Reading, and that by mid-January, Barnsley and Wigan Athletic had also expressed interest.

On Friday, May 3, Charlton revealed their retained list. As a result, Thomas’s contract would not be renewed. Seven other players at The Valley, including Thomas, have not received offers of new contracts.

Richard Chin, Michael Hector, Diallang Jaiyesimi, Jack Payne, Terell Thomas, Lewis Ward, and Kazenga LuaLua are on their list of departures in addition to Thomas. “Everyone at the club would like to thank every player who is leaving for their efforts during their time at Charlton and wish them the very best of luck for the future,” the Addicks wrote in a farewell statement to everyone who was leaving.

The 28-year-old centre defender, who also serves as their captain, has five international caps for Saint Lucia. This season, he has made 43 appearances for Charlton across all competitions. He participated in the two games against the Seasiders that ended in 2-2 and 1-1 results.

With 144 games played, Thomas has the second-highest appearance total in a division in the National League. This gives him an extensive amount of experience at the League One level. AFC Wimbledon, Woking, Sutton United, Crewe Alexandra, Wigan Athletic, and Reading are among his former clubs.

Blackpool, having missed out on the League One play-offs, has their own retained list to take care of. Eight first-team players have contracts expiring, and George Byers, Hayden Coulson, and Karamoko Dembele will all be going back to their parent teams. Coulson and Dembele still have a few years left with their respective teams, while Byers’ contract with Sheffield Wednesday expires this summer.
