Wigan’s Financial Prowess laid bare as European giants signal interest in star player

Sam Tickle, the custodian for Wigan Athletic, has been identified by Premier League team Liverpool as a possible target for the summer transfer window, according to Daily Mail. The team thinks he might be a defensive unit long-term solution.

The growing reputation of Sam Tickle

Sam Tickle had to earn his way up the ranks after enrolling in Wigan Athletic’s youth academy in 2012. Last summer, he received a promotion to the senior team. He now serves as the team’s first-choice custodian thanks to his outstanding performances.
This season, the 22-year-old custodian has made 50 appearances and has kept 17 clean sheets. He can block close-range shots with his powerful hands and insane reflexes. He prefers to play with a high level of intensity the entire time.

The young player still needs to work on his long passes, though. With additional training and experience, Sam can undoubtedly achieve that and become one of the world’s best goalkeepers. Several clubs have expressed interest in him due to his enormous potential.

A replacement for Caoimhin Kelleher?

Alisson Becker serves as Liverpool’s starting custodian, with Caoimhin Kelleher filling in. In the absence of the Brazilian keeper, the latter custodian has performed admirably for the team whenever it was needed.
The Irish custodian, though, aspires to be the team’s best custodian. As long as Alisson is there, things appear difficult, so Kelleher might depart the team at the end of this season. The Reds will sell him without hesitation, but in the summer they will need to sign a new custodian.

The English team thinks Sam Tickle would make a fantastic backup to the 25-year-old goalie. He will act as a safety net and can be a long-term investment. It will be interesting to watch, though, to see if the management will accept the child or not. Sam might fail at the highest level because he has never played for a tier 1 team.
