£15m Wolves player now set to leave Molineux as ‘deal agreed’ and medical booked’

The defender became linked with the club last week, and it is now only a matter of time before he is officially announced as a new player for them.

Jonny‘s exit has been on the cards for a while now at Wolves.

Back in December, Gary O’Neil revealed that there had been a training ground incident involving the Spaniard, and it later came out that he had been banished from the first-team.

It has given Wolves the opportunity to facilitate his exit, and that exit is now about to happen…

‘Deal agreed’ for Jonny Castro Otto to join PAOK from Wolves as a free agent

It was reported last night by renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano that this move is pretty much done now.

He wrote on X: “Johnny Otto leaves Wolves and joins PAOK on permanent transfer, deal agreed. Medical tests on Friday, contract until June 2025 with an option for further season.”

Journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos, who has been on this story since the beginning, also states that the move will soon be made official.

He will become the fifth first-teamer to make a move this month, with Sasa Kalajdzic, Fabio Silva, Yerson Mosquera and Goncalo Guedes – who had been at Benfica – all making loan moves.

But there will be no coming back for Jonny, who was thought to be PAOK’s primary target.

A sad end for a once great player

This a move that is rather tinged with sadness.

When Jonny first came to Wolves on loan from Atletico Madrid, he really impressed under Nuno Espirito Santo and was an absolute staple pick at left wing-back.

He was such a reliable and consistent performer, and was like Wolves’ very own version of Cesar Azpilicueta. He was someone who would always give a 7/10 performance at the very least.

The two serious knee injuries he suffered undoubtedly had a major impact on him, and over the last two years he has been unable to return to his former glories.

Once the details of the recent training ground incident were made public, the writing was rather on the wall for him. It is very out of character what he did, but it was never likely that he would be staying out once everything came out.
