In anticipation of a possible summer transfer, Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly keeping an eye on Amario Cozier-Duberry’s contract status at Arsenal.
If Amario Cozier-Duberry, an Arsenal youth, becomes available on a free transfer this summer, Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly “very much across” a deal, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
After the success of the current campaign, sports director Matt Hobbs has demonstrated that he is working on a tight budget, since Wolves have turned a profit during both of the 2023–24 transfer windows.
In the Black Country, head coach Gary O’Neil has had a great start to his career in the dugout. Despite preseason projections, he has led the team to avoid a Premier League relegation battle. Cozier-Duberry is regarded as one of Arsenal’s most promising young players. Talks to prolong his stay at the Emirates Stadium are still underway.
Wolves was eager to adhere to the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations, thus they had to enter a less expensive market this season than the majority of its opponents. With O’Neil’s hiring, the Wanderers are now concentrating on acquiring young, gifted players with big potential as they try to become more financially stable.
The Black Country team made £140 million after Matheus Nunes and Ruben Neves, two important players, were sold during the summer transfer window of 2023. Talented prospects like Tommy Doyle, a midfielder for Manchester City who joined on a season-long loan from the team in September 2023, took the place of seasoned internationals. He may be purchased outright by Wolves for £4.3 million. Enso Gonzalez, a 19-year-old winger for Libertad, was purchased in the last days of the summer transfer window for an estimated €12 million (£10 million).
Wolves were hesitant to spend any money this winter, which might have resulted in a Premier League censure. They did, however, successfully finalise the loan signing of Noha, the younger brother of Mario Lemina, from Paris Saint-Germain, which will last until the end of the 2023–2024 season. For £1.7 million, Wolves can sign the 18-year-old on a permanent basis.
Transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Wolves are considering recruiting Arsenal’s Cozier-Duberry on a free transfer prior to the 2024 summer transfer window, should he be unable to come to a new contract agreement with the Gunners. According to the Italian journalist, Hobbs is thinking of adding another prospect to the team, and Wanderers are joined by Newcastle United, Ajax, Anderlecht, and Borussia Dortmund.
Transfer insider Dean Jones predicted in June 2023 that Cozier-Duberry will emerge as the “next teen sensation” for the Emirates, as reported by GIVEMESPORT. But Wolves are hoping that the 18-year-old, who Jack Wilshere has called “unplayable,” will move to Molineux in search of fresh air and a chance to play more frequently.
