Wolves are reportedly showing interest in young Norwich City striker Jonathan Rowe, who has made a blistering start to the new season.
Wolves have made a promising start to the new season under Gary O’Neil, who has done a decent job so far in addressing one major problem the club have had in recent years; scoring goals.
So far, the club have hit 23 across their 14 games in all competitions this season. 16 of those have come in the Premier League.
Despite that though, there is still a feeling that Wolves are lacking a bit in the final third.
It was recently reported that O’Neil was ready to prioritise the signing of a new striker in January.
Young Rowe is not an out-and out striker, but it is now being suggested he is a target for the club…
Wolves join hunt for Norwich striker Jonathan Rowe
TEAMtalk reported over the weekend that Wolves have now joined the hunt for Norwich striker Rowe.
Rowe has enjoyed a fabulous start to 2023/24, scoring eight goals so far. Seven of those have come in the Championship, and one has come in the EFL Cup.
It is very much a breakout season for Rowe, who only made three appearances for Norwich’s first-team last season.
Rowe’s brilliant form has seen him break into the England U21s squad, and there will be a chance to watch him in the upcoming games against Serbia and Northern Ireland.
Norwich are seeking to hand the player a new contract following his fantastic start to the new season. The Canaries are actually aware that interest is mounting in Rowe.
Wolves are not the only side keen – it is also suggested that the likes of Crystal Palace and Aston Villa are showing interest.
Rowe looks a great prospect
So Wolves are reportedly looking at Rowe ahead of the January transfer window and it’s something to keep an eye on.
Rowe has been great so far for Norwich, who have rather struggled as a collective after a bright start.
A haul of seven Championship goals so far is very impressive for a young player who had barely featured for the first-team before this season.
That’s one more league goal than Wolves’ top scorer Hwang Hee-chan has managed up to now.
Wolves probably do need to sign another wide forward, with O’Neil currently only having Hwang, Pablo Sarabia and Pedro Neto. The likes of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Rayan Ait-Nouri can also play as wingers, but it is not their primary position.
