Surprising’ attacking change as Gary starts ‘energetic’ Blades’

Here’s how we predict Wolverhampton Wanderers will line up against Sheffield United in the Premier League.

On Sunday afternoon, Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are fighting for survival in the Premier League, will host Sheffield United at Molineux with the chance to shoot themselves into the top half of the standings.

The Old Gold pulled off a valiant 2-1 triumph away at Tottenham Hotspur, but they will face a drastically different opponent after their 2-0 loss to Brentford. It was all about attack on attack last week. This time, Wolves needs to overcome a low block more than anything else.

The Blades knew going into this game that they need to win at least half of their remaining games in order to have any realistic chance of staying up, having been hammered 5-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion the previous time out. The opening goal is probably going to be crucial because Chris Wilder’s team will be fighting hard from the beginning.

Wolves predicted lineup vs Sheffield United

As per usual, Gary O’Neil is expected to name a very attacking lineup to give Wolves the best chance of a positive result. Here are the 11 players we predict will start.

GK – Jose Sa

Sa, who is undoubtedly the first-choice goalkeeper, will be keen on slowing down the rate Wolves are conceding goals at the moment.

RWB – Nelson Semedo

Semedo has done brilliantly this season at both ends of the field. Inconsistency sometimes creeps in but he’s improved.

CB – Max Kilman

The captain has been essential to Wanderers’ accomplishments this year. He has not only led from behind, but he has also played excellent defence.

Craig Dawson is CB.

Dawson has been a pillar of support for Wolves, aiding in their aerial dominance. Most weeks, his experience comes through.

CB – Toti Gomes

Toti, who has been superb as a left-sided centre-half, still hasn’t given O’Neil an excuse to drop him for Santiago Bueno.

LWB – Rayan Ait-Nouri

The Algerian will have to do something seriously wrong to fall behind Hugo Bueno and Matt Doherty in the pecking order.

CM – Mario Lemina

Lemina has already had eight yellow cards this season; he needs to ease down, but he has invigorated Wanderers’ midfield with his energy.

Joao Gomes, CM

The Brazilian stole the show at Tottenham, scoring both of Wolves’ goals to secure a three-point victory.

RW – Bellegarde Jean-Ricner

Though Sarabia’s benching in strong form may surprise some, this is a good chance to get Bellegarde some playing time.
Pedro Neto, LW

Despite Neto’s recent use as a striker, Hwang’s return means the Portuguese will be spending more time out on the wings.

Hee-chan Hwang, ST

Hwang will be eager to play the entire 90 this weekend even if he didn’t play it all out last time. It would be wonderful to see him back on the scoresheet to boost his confidence.
