Even though Amad Diallo hasn’t touched the ball for Manchester United this year, teams are still interested in signing him on a January loan.
Amad’s attempt to impress manager Erik ten Hag and persuade him to remain at Old Trafford this season rather than send him back out on loan was thwarted when he suffered a knee injury during the preseason tour.
The Ivorian is gradually regaining his fitness and is back on the field, but he has not yet returned to team training, which is the last requirement before he can resume play.
There were rumors last week that Leicester City, if a new report is to be believed, would be competing with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Amad in the summer.
Footballtransfers.com states that after scouting the 21-year-old back in 2021, Wolves has already gotten in touch with the Old Trafford club regarding the possibility of a loan deal for the player.
Wolves followed Amad and even made an attempt to sign him in 2022 after his loan spell at Rangers, even though they lost out on the starlet at that point when Atalanta accepted Man Utd’s €21 million offer for the player.
It is interesting to wonder if United will make the flying winger available.
He appeared to be fourth or fifth in the club’s right wing hierarchy at the beginning of the season, behind Antony, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga, and, possibly, Facundo Pellistri.
But after a falling out with Ten Hag, Sancho is expected to go on loan in January, while Elanga moved to Nottingham Forest.
Ten Hag, who has only given Pellistri 291 minutes of football this season despite all the other problems, does not appear to be fond of Pellistri, while Antony is having form problems.
During his loan at Sunderland last season, Amad lit up the Championship, and now the odds may be in his favor to challenge for a spot in the United starting lineup.
He and Pellistri, both 21, are at or near the crucial age when it comes to developing at United, and the current club crisis may present the ideal opportunity for a showdown between the two to determine which, if any, will live up to the expectations.
Leicester and Wolves may be disappointed when the transfer window opens in January because of this.
