Wolves boss Gary O’Neil louds Keystar injury update after hamstring scan.

Cunha was taken off the pitch after just 20 minutes of Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Molineux to Brentford for Wolves.

The Brazilian has been playing in excellent form this year, scoring nine goals in the Premier League, including a hat-trick in his team’s 4-2 victory over Chelsea earlier in February.

However, scans conducted earlier this week indicated that the 24-year-old will be sidelined for an extended period of time.
“His hamstring injury is fairly significant,” O’Neil said on the club website on Wednesday.

It doesn’t have a timetable. Matheus and I have chatted extensively, and he is determined to return as soon as possible.

We will simply keep an eye on it week by week, day by day, to see how far he can progress and how soon we can get him back. He has already begun working on it. He’s eager to return to the field as soon as possible.

Given the effort he has been doing and the great form he was in, it is clearly a huge blow to the team, us, and Matheus. Every squad has injuries from time to time.

“We need to keep going without Matheus, just like we did when Channy [Hwang Hee-Chan] was away for more than a month with the Asian Cup.”

After South Korea’s 2-0 loss to Jordan in the Asian Cup semifinal, Hwang rejoined Wolves, but he was sidelined for the team’s loss to Brentford because of a calf ache.

O’Neil commented, “Channy should be fine, just some awareness in his calf,” on the South Korean’s injury status. We had anticipated that he would train for part of the next week and be free for the weekend.

On Saturday, Wolves will travel to face Tottenham in an attempt to maintain their stellar recent record against the north London team, which has seen them lose only one of their last four meetings.
