Wolves handed late transfer boost in pursuit of £125k-a-week striker’

Ings is thought to be a player on Gary O’Neil’s transfer radar this month.

The Molineux manager is looking for a new centre forward after allowing Sasa Kalajdzic and Fabio Silva to leave on loan.

Ings hasn’t made many starts for West Ham this season, with Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio preferred in the middle.

It was recently claimed that West Ham were likely to keep Ings due to injury concerns.

Wolves may have a better chance of pursuing Ings in the near future.

West Ham eye Victor Boniface as Wolves consider Danny Ings

According to The Sun, West Ham are hoping to sign Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Nigerian striker has been in excellent form this season, netting 10 goals for Xabi Alonso’s unbeaten team.

They are attempting to sign him, with David Moyes reportedly strongly supporting the move, and the club is even willing to smash its transfer record.

If this occurred, it would surely force Ings to the exit.

The man earns £125,000 every week Ings has only played 504 minutes this season, with only 133 in the Premier League spread across ten games.

It has been a frustrating era for him, and suspicion that he may leave is unsurprising.

David Moyes fails to say Ings can be a success at West Ham

Declan Rice has previously labelled Ings as ‘a born goalscorer’. He has been with West Ham for a year and has not had a very good tenure there.

He has made 41 appearances but only scored three goals.

He’s struggled to make an impression, but Moyes admits he likes the player. However, when asked if Ings could be a success for West Ham, the Scot gave a hesitant response.

He said (Mirror): “Danny has played his part and he’s probably wanted more minutes than we’ve been able to offer him but there are circumstances that have affected the situation.

“All I can say is, we really like him. He works hard and tries to be the best he can be every day. We’re really supportive of him.”

Seemingly, Moyes isn’t convinced it will work out for Ings, and this could therefore be an invitation for Wolves – especially if the Hammers make progress on Boniface.
