Wolves have ‘one more attempt’ at signing *

Wolverhampton Wanderers could make a last-ditch attempt at signing Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto at Molineux this winter.

As transfer insider Dean Jones informs us on issues with “overnight talks” at Molineux, Wolverhampton Wanderers may make a desperate bid to capture Corinthians forward Yuri Alberto this morning.

Wolves head coach Gary O’Neil had hoped to add another centre-forward to his squad on the 2024 winter transfer window’s Deadline Day, but he may have to turn to alternative targets.

According to The Telegraph’s John Percy, Wolves had made Corinthians’ Alberto their primary transfer target heading into the final 24 hours of the 2024 winter transfer window.

It appeared that the 22-year-old will join Molineux on loan until the end of the 2023–2024 campaign, with a rumoured £18 million buyout option included in the agreement. Jones had stated to GIVEMESPORT on January 31 that negotiations to sign Alberto were coming to a “positive conclusion,” indicating that O’Neil was on track to eventually land the striker he had been eyeing during the winter transfer window.

But according to reports that surfaced overnight, Wolves has withdrawn from the competition to sign the one-cap Brazil international, with the move falling through at the last minute due to an agent’s request for additional money. Wanderers are continuing in search of a forward. In the last hours of the transfer window, Jones informed GIVEMESPORT (30th January) that the Black Country team is “almost certain” to add a goal striker.
