Pedro Neto’s hamstring injury is expected to sideline him for no more than two months, according to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
After making just ten games in the 2023–24 Premier League, the winger has already contributed one goal and seven assists, making him one of the league’s top performers.
In Saturday night’s 2-2 tie with Newcastle United, Neto provided his most recent assist when his outswinging corner found Mario Lemina’s head, who scored the team’s opening goal.
But in the last quarter, the Portugal international went down holding his hamstring, and the playmaker was clearly upset as he was stretchered out.
Head coach Gary O’Neil said during the game that Neto had been moving around the locker room and that he was hopeful about how the hamstring injury would be graded.
In addition, after the accident, the 23-year-old has posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, indicating that he will be out for “a few weeks.”
However, the Daily Mail claims that Neto may have to spend more than a month at the rehab facility.
According to the article, Wolves want to get Neto back in action before the end of 2023, ideally before the busy Christmas season.
Neto will undoubtedly miss the next games against Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United before to the international break.
Before November ends, Wolves go to Fulham as well. However, in the first nine days of December, they play Arsenal, Burnley, and Nottingham Forest.
Right now, it seems quite probable that Neto won’t be available for those games either, but Wolves won’t play again for more than two weeks after that—that is, until they go to West Ham United on December 17.
It would have been eight weeks and one day from Neto’s injury to the matchup with the West Londoners, with the matchup with Chelsea now scheduled for Christmas Eve.
