Wolves make contact for signing – Club willing to negotiate sale, ready to offer discount

Last month, we relayed news from Spain that Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of the Premier League sides to have targeted São Paulo’s Lucas Beraldo.

The centre-back joined the Brazilian club’s academy in 2020 and made his way into their first team in May 2022.

Beraldo has been a regular for the club this year, clocking up 3,869 minutes from 44 games, and his displays have encouraged interest from European clubs, including Wolves.

Lance! state the 19-year-old has already received enquiries from the Premier League side and AS Monaco, but it’s not made clear if these two clubs have made contact with his camp, São Paulo or both.

The report states the defender has extended his contract until 2028 and it includes a €60m release clause.

They add the South American club have an ‘ambitious plan’ for him, and it’s to make him the most expensive Brazilian defender, surpassing the €12m fee they earned from Breno’s sale to Bayern Munich in 2007.

Despite the figure quoted in the clause, it’s claimed São Paulo are willing to negotiate his sale for around €20m.

Wolves have made contact to sign Beraldo, who ‘could leave’ the club. However, Lance! don’t categorically mention if São Paulo are ready to sell the youngster in January or next summer.
