Goncalo Guedes, a winger for Wolverhampton Wanderers, has stated that he would like to stay at Benfica, a loan team. However, they will not investigate this option until the end of the current campaign.
Jornal de Noticias claims that the Portuguese forward would be more than content to stay with his previous club.
Guedes, who moved from Valencia for €32.6 million in August 2022, spent the second part of the previous season on loan at Benfica. He extended that contract in the summer, but neither he nor Wolves were eager to play together again after his unsuccessful year at Molineux.
According to the publication, Guedes “expresses his desire” to stay where he is, suggesting that he is content with the way things are going. The Benfica management have taken note of this desire and are aware of it, but they will only evaluate a trade at the end of the current campaign.
Put another way, since they have a loan agreement in place that will last until the conclusion of the season, they don’t see any reason to upset the apple cart just yet.
Before agreeing to a long-term contract with Wolves, who would presumably be trying to recover as much of their original investment as possible, they would want to wait and see how Guedes
performs.
