Wolves man hails FA Cup heroics of minnows Maidstone”

Boss George Elokobi hailed his Maidstone history makers as their FA Cup heroics ended with a 5-0 defeat at Coventry.

Fabio Tavares’ late brace and Ellis Simms’ first-half hat-trick propelled the Sky Blues into the quarterfinals.

The Stones began their run in September and defeated EFL teams Barrow, Stevenage, and Ipswich. They were the first team outside the top five levels to advance to the fifth round since Blyth Spartans in 1978.

In their eighth match of the season, Elokobi honoured his National League South opponents.

The former Wolves defender expressed his pride in the players, the community, and the way they approached this historic FA Cup run.

“So many people have been inspired by them, and they have received so much attention.” We shall never forget this occasion in the club’s history.

We’re all victors; some people are a little let down, but it’s my responsibility to encourage them and show them how far we’ve come.

“For all football fans, this is the best time of our lives. There are a tonne of advantages to consider. We want to be certain that we can focus on the league.

“The FA Cup still has magic in it. We knew going into this FA Cup voyage that we wouldn’t win. It was about showing off our abilities and talents. That is what we have accomplished.
