Wolves set to sign exciting Cunha partner

Wolverhampton Wanderers enjoyed a largely successful campaign under Gary O’Neil but won just once over the final ten matches, fizzling out and highlighting the importance of hitting the mark this summer.

Many Premier League clubs are in danger due to the gathering mists of profit and sustainability breaches, but Wolves are not seen to be one of them. Even still, free-spending this summer will not be feasible, even with the increasing interest in the £60 million Pedro Neto.

But shrewd moves could certainly be made, with an exciting update emerging regarding O’Neil’s first possible summer signing.

Wolves are “concretely interested” in Paraguayan winger Ramon Sosa, who is valued at €18 million (£15 million) by his Argentine Primera División club Talleres, according to writer German Garcia Grova, via Rudy Galetti.

Newcastle United has also been keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, but it appears that the Old Gold are now in control as they get ready to make an official approach. The player’s agent has reportedly had “very positive” meetings with the Old Gold.

Speaking on the prospective move, one Argentinian football writer said: “Wolves fans should get excited by this, he’s the real deal.”

He has played in 21 games across all competitions this season, scoring seven goals and dishing out six assists. Given his exceptional dribbling abilities, he may be able to win over a number of Molineux supporters.

In fact, Sosa’s level of quality is evident in the fact that, according to FBref, he is in the top 1% of attacking midfielders and wingers in divisions comparable to the Argentine Primera División for successful take-ons per 90.In addition to making an impression in the Premier League with his ability to drive the ball forward and leave opponents bested and floored, this suggests that he would be the ideal new partner for Matheus Cunha, whose technical prowess has left spectators in awe this season.

Cunha has been linked to prestigious teams like Manchester United, but the Brazilian has allayed worries by saying he’s “very happy at Wolves” for the time being. However, a player of his caliber might anticipate some improvement in the market in the upcoming months.

Cunha, one of the most versatile and dynamic strikers in English football, could really flourish with a player like Sosa, whose constant energy down the left flank would stretch defenses and create space for the center-forward to score and create opportunities.

Neto may very well depart Wolves this summer, but if that happens, Sosa might be the target of an immediate swoop for a fresh new winger to steal the show.
