Even with the departure of Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. last summer, Paris Saint-Germain’s off-field operations are still thriving. The capital club is prepared to enter the Asian market because it has made active use of Kang-in Lee’s marketing potential.
Given the South Korean’s recent achievements both on and off the pitch, RMC Sport analyst Daniel Riolo predicts that the Parisians will target another Asian player this summer. He doesn’t specify a name, though, so the rest is left up to conjecture.
Riolo stated on After Foot that “PSG’s upcoming summer transfer window will be lively in Asia.”
RMC (source: Le10Sport). “They notice Lee’s commercial success, and they anticipate the entry of another Asian player, most likely a Japanese one. PSG will undoubtedly succeed, regardless of whether the player is South Korean or Japanese.
While many Asian players are having exceptional seasons in the 2023–24 league, Le10Sport makes an effort to focus on just one. Players like Kim Min-Jae of Bayern Munich and Heung-Min Son of Tottenham Hotspur are excluded by the French publication because they are difficult to sign or have recently joined the team.
They cite Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad), Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton & Hove Albion), Takehiro Tomiyasu (Arsenal), Hiroki Ito (Stuttgart), and even Ritsu Doa (Fribourg) as names of interest that sporting advisor Luis Campos could pursue.
Hee-chan Hwang of Wolverhampton Wanderers, however, is a name that makes sense. Should the capital club decide to move Gonçalo Ramos off the pitch or move Randal Kolo Muani to the wing, Hwang would make an excellent No. 2 striker.
This season, the 28-year-old has scored 11 goals for Wolves across all competitions.
