Wolves’ three key transfer targets for 2024… including 18-goal phenomenon:

Wolves could do with strengthening in certain positions in 2024, here are three key targets we think Wolves should be going for.

Gary O’Neil has done wonders in charge at Molineux, a job which world-renowned manager Julen Lopetegui thought doomed this season.

The Spaniard left Wolves just days before the Premier League began to which the Compton Park side responded by bringing in the former Bournemouth manager.

O’Neil was believed to have a difficult job on his hands but has instead coached Wolves into a solid team. The highlight no doubt was a 2-1 win over Man City.

But despite solid signs, it’s no surprise to read various transfer reports of different players Wolves want to bring into the club. This is due to multiple positions of weakness which really requires attention in 2024.

So with this in mind, here are three players we think should be among Wolves’ top targets in 2024…

Brighton & Hove Albion v Burnley FC - Premier League

Josh Brownhill

Josh Brownhill may not be the most exciting name Wolves fans could dream of seeing sign for the club in 2024, however, he is a player who’d definitely help strengthen the midfield options at Molineux.

Currently at Burnley where he is the captain, Brownhill is among the best players in that relegation-threatened side, a player who is likely to move to another Premier League side so Wolves should make sure it’s them.

O’Neil is believed to be a keen supporter of Brownhill and he could be available for cheap in January as his contract expires at the end of this season. One important aspect of this signing would be that Brownhill is a leader and would add that to Wolves who currently are lacking in the leadership department following both Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves’ departures.

Nico Elvedi

Wolves need to bring in a defender and it really needs to be a priority just ahead of a striker given a few reasons. Wolves play a three-at-the-back system but really only have four centre-backs, with Santi Bueno not a great option right now as he continues to settle.

Secondly, another of the options in Craig Dawson is ageing and at 33 years old can’t be expected to continue playing as many games as he has been. Therefore we suggest Borussia Monchengladbach’s Nico Elvedi as the ideal choice and one to instantly improve Wolves.

Despite a deal not managing to transpire last summer, Elvedi is believed to be open to new challenges and that challenge could be getting Wolves into the top half. An important signing which should be one of Wolves’ top targets.

Serhou Guirassy

Wolves’ position in the league is underplayed thanks to some poor VAR decisions which have gone against them. Wolves will have to hope this changes but in the meantime signing a top class striker could help O’Neil’s side score more meaning they won’t be reliant on single goal results.

Serhou Guirassy is the player we want to see brought in as he is currently in rampant form for Stuttgart in Germany, scoring 18 goals in all competitions this season to date.

Wolves have been in contact over a move for the high-flying Bundesliga striker who could be an incredible acquisition. A big and strong number nine who Hwang Hee-Chan, Matheus Cunha and Pedro Neto would no doubt love to play with, the perfect top target for 2024.
