Wolves wolves set sight on striker after sealing Rodrigo Gomes deal

Wolverhampton Wanderers are considering reopening talks with Corinthians forward Yuri Alberto, Football Transfers understands.

The 23-year-old was close to sealing a move to Molineux during the January transfer window, but Wolves were unable to finalise a loan deal with an option to buy

We have been told that a dispute over agent fees hindered Alberto’s prospective move to Wolves in January, but sources close to the club suggest this issue can now be resolved.

Last season, Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan were frequently used in the center, but Gary O’Neil is eager to add a fresh number nine to Wolves’ starting lineup.

In 24 games across all competitions since the Brazilian season started at the beginning of 2024, Alberto has scored 13 goals.Because of his perceived ability to strengthen Wolves’ roster before the 2024–25 Premier League season, O’Neil’s team is now thinking about making another bid for him.

Meanwhile, Wolves seemed to be leading the race to sign Scotland international Che Adams this summer, but Nottingham Forest has overtaken them with a more competitive deal.

When his Southampton contract ends at the end of June, the 27-year-old will become a free agent, and a move to the City Ground now appears more plausible.Adams scored 15 goals in 40 Championship games to help Southampton earn their first-ever promotion back to the Premier League.

Apart from their pursuit of Alberto, Wolves are also planning to pay €15 million to capture Braga winger Rodrigo Gomes.

After completing his physical later this week, the Portuguese U21 international is likely to sign a contract that would last until 2029.Gomes played 36 games for Estoril last season while on loan, finishing with nine goals and eight assists.
