Former Worcester Warriors and Samoa star James Johnston to bring rugby to county’s youngsters

Johnston will share his expertise and passion for rugby with young athletes in Worcestershire as part of the world’s leading rugby play programs for children – Rugbytots and RugbyKids.

The powerhouse prop enjoyed an illustrious career playing for the likes of Saracens and Harlequins while he also represented Samoa at the Rugby World Cup.

Worcestershire Rugbytots and RugbyKids head coach, Eliot Langfield, said: “His vast experience and passion for our wonderful game will undoubtedly inspire the next generation of athletes in our community.”

Johnston added: “I am excited to join Rugbytots and have the opportunity to share my love for rugby with the children of Worcestershire.

“Rugby has been a central part of my life, and I am eager to inspire the next generation of players, instilling in them not only a passion for the game but also important values like teamwork and respect, while having a lot of fun in the process.”

As a Rugbytots coach, Johnston will lead engaging and inclusive non-contact sessions for girls and boys aged one and a half to seven while introducing them and their families to the fundamentals of rugby in a fun and supportive environment.

The rugby star will also bring the game to nurseries and pre-schools, as well as running PE classes and after school clubs in primary schools for children in reception to year 6.
