Police shutdown popular Worksop spot after incident kill two

Inspector Hayley Crawford, Bassetlaw district commander, reports that Carlton in Lindrick has once again been the scene of a horrific incident, this time i

nvolving the mutilation and death of a beloved horse named Alfie on July 24–25.
Investigating any incident involving helpless animals is never easy for our officers.

My thoughts are with the owners right now as they are distraught.

Please get in touch with the investigator at maria.wall@notts.police.uk if you know of anyone in the community who may be in charge or who may have information.

I am aware of the problems with large gatherings of car enthusiasts who gather in parking lots and make excessive noise along the A57.

I also know that some people have been speeding on the A57, and that people have been standing and filming from the central reservation and laybys.

In the event that there is an increase in activity, I have authorised a dispersal order. This gives police more authority to disperse groups of two or more individuals who are causing problems in the community or are likely to do so.

To keep them from gathering in the first place, we occasionally advertise this dispersal on Facebook, but it is always put into practice when necessary. In a single evening, we sent over ten warning letters to drivers cruising the A57, informing them that their cars would be seized if they were to be found in the area again and that the police had good reason to believe they were using their vehicle in an anti-social way.

When racing occurs, kindly continue to report events to the police directly so that we can schedule our deployments accordingly and track any activity.

We have been conducting free cycle marking activities all over the district this summer. For information on dates and locations, please check our Facebook pages, and mark your bikes.

Three men were taken into custody in Worksop town centre on July 26 on charges of affray, criminal damage, and possessing a bladed article. Two men were placed under judicial remand, while the other was freed on bond.

We are still carrying out a great deal of warrants that we have created throughout the district. Officers carried out drug warrant executions at Whitcome Ordsall and Thomas Street in Retford on July 29 and 30.

The warrants were extremely successful; they resulted in the seizure of numerous drug-dealing accessories, cash, suspected Class A drugs (including what are believed to be heroin and cocaine), and a stolen motorbike with fake plates.

As a result, we also made two arrests. We have carried out 29 warrant executions so far this year, removing numerous drugs and firearms from circulation.

Myself and the team patrolled polling places throughout the district on July 4.

It was a pleasure to talk to many people. Everything went without a hitch, and it was delightful to catch up with the community.
