Worksop burglar arrested for killing

A suspect has been detained by police looking into a string of burglaries that have occurred recently in the town centres of Retford and Newark.

The 33-year-old man was taken into custody in Retford yesterday afternoon, Tuesday.

His arrest comes after a thorough investigation into a string of burglaries that occurred between July 18 and August 8 and involved several businesses in the town centres of Retford and Newark.

“Although we have now arrested a suspect in connection with this recent spike in commercial burglaries, I also want to reassure our residents and businesses that we won’t let up in our ongoing efforts to tackle, reduce, and prevent burglary,” stated Inspector Charlotte Ellam, the district commander for Newark & Sherwood.

“We’ll keep looking into complaints and doing everything we can to help our neighbourhood companies, including offering tips on how to avoid becoming victims of crime.

“In addition, I want to remind everyone to report any suspicious activity to the police right away and for local businesses to continue being watchful in order to assist us in stopping burglars.”
