Faal joined the League Two side on a season’s loan in the summer and has impressed with five goals in his past 10 appearances.
The 20-year-old has not yet played at the age-grade level for any nation, but if given the chance, he would like to play for his own nation.
He reportedly stated, “I was born in Gambia; that’s where I’m from, and that’s where my family is from” (Doncaster Free Press, November 9).
“I believe that should I represent The Gambia, everyone would be pleased with me. All I can do is wait for that to occur.
Faal moved to Birmingham at the age of seven from The Gambia, thus he has lived in England for more than half of his life.
His choice to swear loyalty to his origins is commendable, though, and you have to think he has a good chance of being capped soon.
Carlos Corberan may include the young player in his plans for the 2024–25 season as he is scoring goals at a respectable clip in the fourth tier.
Doncaster manager Grant McCann recently stated that Faal will “be unplayable” in the upcoming years, demonstrating how highly the team regards him.
Even though this is Faal’s fourth stint on loan, Albion still has ambitions for him going forward.
The fact that Corberan started him in the league loss to Sunderland in April indicates that he thinks highly of him.
Faal must now maintain his current level of performance to be considered for a spot in The Gambia’s and West Brom’s teams.
