West Brom: Carlos Corberan “keen” on Leicester City move amid Burnley links

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a potential move away from The Hawthorns in recent weeks as a result of various managerial vacancies becoming available.

After a strong first full season under Corberan’s direction, Albion appeared to be headed towards a summer of stability and promise, but those hopes appear to be dashed over the course of the next several days.

The East Midlands team and Corberan first made contact in late May when speculation about then-Foxes head coach Enzo Maresca’s possible resignation was first raised.

These connections, of course, were to the Italian and the opening at Chelsea following Mauricio Pochettino’s shocking firing at the end of the Premier League season. As a result, the Leicester management put together a shortlist of possible successors for the former Manchester City assistant.Following weeks of drawn-out rumors, Maresca’s five-year deal at Stamford Bridge was officially announced on Monday afternoon. Ever since, there has been no shortage of discussion about Corberan taking over as manager.

This also occurs one day after John Percy of the Telegraph said that the newly promoted team could have to pay between £3.5 million and £4 million to hire Corberan as manager. The same story also stated Leicester would receive about £10 million in compensation.

Tavolieri’s statement affects more than just the two Midlands clubs.

This comes after FootballInsider recently reported that Corberan’s representatives had contacted the recently relegated team about the open position. The report also stated that Corberan is eager to look for a new challenge after encountering a number of difficulties during his time in B71, which started about a year and a half ago.

Following Kompany’s departure, The Athletic also revealed that Corberan was one of several managers with Championship
