The entire trajectory of Wrexham changed upon the arrival of Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds during the 2020-21 season.
From the rise of the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary series to the on-pitch success of back-to-back promotions, Wrexham are the talk of the game.
All eyes will be on Wrexham as a League One campaign beckons, with many no doubt interested to see how realistic a third promotion in a row really is under Phil Parkinson.
Rio Ferdinand offers help to Ryan Reynolds
The Hollywood owners have thrust Wrexham into a whole new league.
The club’s support base in the US has grown significantly, and this summer’s pre-season tour there will only grow it.
Even former England international Rio Ferdinand is even wanting to ask questions about Wrexham and did so when speaking to Reynolds.
Speaking on FIVE, Ferdinand quizzed Reynolds on both his acting career and his role as co-chairman at Wrexham.
Ferdinand opened by admitting his respect for Reynolds and the Wrexham project – but that quickly turned to Reynolds and co-star Hugh Jackman suggesting that he should move to Wrexham.
Ferdinand – who is now 45 and retired nine years ago – made it absolutely clear that he simply cannot play football anymore despite Reynolds suggesting otherwise.
The former Manchester United player did, however, indicate that he would be willing to support Wrexham off the field since he thinks he can aid Reynolds in the background.
Reynolds made light of the fact that he might use some assistance off the field, but Ferdinand is not likely to be joining the STōK Cae Ras in the near future.
“Ryan, listen, Wrexham, I mean, listen, I have huge respect for what you have done,” said Rio Ferdinand.
Ryan Reynolds: “What level of deference? Would you be willing to move and…
Rio Ferdinand: “In what capacity are you looking for me to kind of be recruited?
Ryan Reynolds: “I think you could…”
Rio Ferdinand: “I can’t play no more, man.”
Hugh Jackman: “Why not?”
Ryan Reynolds: “Come on.”
Rio Ferdinand: “I can’t play no more, man, but I would help you off the pitch. I would help you, man.”
