Celebrity owners respond to Wrexham fans to sign Arsenal 22yo:

Wrexham fans are desperate for the club to sign Arsenal loanee Arthur Okonkwo on a permanent deal, calling on their owners to make the move happen.

Arsenal’s Arthur Okonkwo recently returned to the starting lineup for Wrexham following facial surgery, and he’s made a flawless comeback so far, keeping two clean sheets in two games.

Most recently, Okonkwo played 90 minutes as 10-man Wrexham overcame Swindon Town 1-0, with the Arsenal goalkeeper making a save deep into injury time to help his team to secure victory.

Wrexham are up to second in the League Two table with the win, albeit that Mansfield Town are only one point behind with a game in hand.

Okonkwo has now kept eight clean sheets in his 15 games for Wrexham, an excellent record, and it’s little wonder that the fans on social media were calling on owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds to sign him up permanently.

  • @Sounders74: “Okonkwo has been massive for Wrexham. I’m afraid of the fact he has been so good his stock has gone up considerably we can no longer afford to keep him”
  • @Jonsonton: “Come on @VancityReynolds (Ryan Reynolds) and @RMcElhenney (Rob McElhenney), sign him up. He’s easily going to improve, most keepers don’t approach their peak until mid to late twenties and he’s already brilliant”
  • @BrevardOrange: “@RMcElhenney any chance there’s an hours long phone call in your immediate future…?”
  • @RetroWrexham: “Pull out all the stops to sign him”
  • @michPDX7223: “Great job Arthur!! We need to find a way to keep him around!”

  • @huwselby: “@VancityReynolds @RMcElhenney imagine you persuaded Arthur into signing long term”
  • @anthonychan316: “Just pay him whatever he wants to get him to stay”
  • @WafcGlyndwr: “Sign. Him. Up.”

It’s great to see a club so desperate to sign an Arsenal loanee permanently, and it’s a testament to how well he’s done in his loan spell so far.

With any luck, the Arsenal goalkeeper’s strong form will continue for the remainder of the season and he’ll add a promotion to his CV.
