Door opens for Wrexham to swoop for summer target in January

The 27-year-old Armstrong may have played his final game for his present team, but if Wrexham is still interested in him in January, then the door will likely open.

According to the Harrogate Advertiser, Simon Weaver, the manager of the Sulphurites, has given the following update on the player’s condition after he was left out of their team for their match against Swindon Town over the weekend: “On Friday, I pulled Luke into my office at training and told him, ‘We know what happened last window, and we have six weeks till the transfer window.'”

“Obviously he wants to get his move, so I just want to concentrate on playing the players that are going to be available from January onwards.”

Door opens for Wrexham

Wrexham was almost finished with their move for Armstrong, but timing prevented them from winning.

As they pursued promotion to League One in the second half of the season, he would provide Phil Parkinson’s team another offensive option to choose from.

But the Welsh team must determine if they really need him at this point. The Durham native’s trade failed, but they later made a move for free agent Steven Fletcher.

Armstrong has scored 31 goals in 116 games for Harrogate in all competitions, demonstrating his ability to score goals at the League Two level.

This term, he has only found the net once, but that might be because of the September deadline day events that left him disappointed.

He had stints at Middlesbrough, Salford City, and Hartlepool United before moving to Yorkshire.

After suffering a 2-0 loss on the road at Accrington Stanley the previous game, Wrexham is currently fourth in the standings, outside the top three on goal differential.

They are back in action with a home match against Morecambe, and they are still in a strong position.
