Good news:Hollywood stars donate sportswear worth £3,500 to wrexham

Many fans of Wrexham would be thrilled to meet Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, two well-known Hollywood actors.

However, the store owner’s true wish is to express gratitude to them for keeping his business afloat.

Celebrity owners of Wrexham AFC intervened to provide a £3,500 donation following the October 28 burglary of a local sportswear store.

Owner Stephen Tapp remarked, “I had to be picked up off the floor because it was so overwhelming.”

It’s absurd that one of Hollywood’s top stars is giving money to my modest store.

“We were about to wrap up the online donations page, then they doubled the amount I’d already received – taking it to £7,000.”

The third season of Welcome to Wrexham revealed a victory procession including a bus carrying Hollywood owners.
Stephen, the proprietor of Wrexham Trainer Revival, had recently marked one month after the shop’s relocation when he became aware of the break-in.

“My head wasn’t in a very good place after spending so much time talking to the police,” he stated.

“I was very close to packing up and selling it all on eBay – the support I’ve had from everyone has been amazing” .

The Wrexham community has not been the only one to offer support and contributions to Mr. Tapp’s store.

I’ve only met this American couple once, yet they put up the contributions page, and their money has paid for all of my expenses and kept the business running.

“By Sunday tea-time, with the amount of messages I received on social media, there was no way I could give up.”

Rob McElhenney and Mr. Tapp’s son met last Saturday during Wrexham’s victory against Gillingham.

“Rob said, ‘Oh yeah, the trainer guy’ – I didn’t realise they even knew I existed, so this has blown my mind.”

“They’re welcome to the shop anytime,” he said.

“There’ll be a couple of free T-shirts there for them, that’s for sure.”
