Minutes after the 5-0 defeat, Rob McElhenney texted the Wrexham manager.
The communications that Wrexham’s co-owner wrote to manager Phil have been made public.
Wrexham suffered a crushing loss in September after being promoted back into League Two with great victory. The squad, led by Parkinson, ended their 15-year tenure in the league and 45-year trophy drought the previous season when they won the National League with 11 points, setting a record for the most points scored in a season.
Following their promotion, Wrexham’s performance was inconsistent; however, following four straight victories, the squad faltered against Stockport at Edgeley Park. Louie Barry and Isaac Olaofe’s efforts saw the Red Dragons give up three goals before the half. Paddy Madden’s goal in the dying minute would compound the insult when Olaofe finished off his hat-trick in the second half.
The team has not suffered a defeat this bad since nearly ten years ago against Luton Town. Additionally, it was their third league game in which they have let up five goals.
McElhenney was quick to offer Parkinson his support, even if he was disappointed with the way the outcome was handled. The actor has recently disclosed that, just after the loss, he texted Parkinson to reassure him.
McElhenney continued, “I sent that text before the final whistle.” “I wanted to make sure he understood that we had his back as soon as he returned to the locker room.
When everything is going well and everything is going according to plan, it is simple to be supportive. Coasting along on that, with the wind in your sails and at your back, is simple. However, when you are facing hardship and you glance around, you become acutely aware of your friends.
“Everyone experiences such difficult times. Nobody’s life is ever-expanding. Those are significant times. You discover who, in the end, is truly there for you.
