Wrexham fans have been set the challenge of coming up with a “proper song” for an unsung hero snapped up by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
WHAT HAPPENED?
After spending a loan period at Stockport County, Andy Cannon brought his National League expertise to the Red Dragons from Hull City in December 2022. In 2023, he delighted in promotion celebrations for consecutive campaigns as Wrexham won an unprecedented title.
WHAT KER SAID ABOUT CANNON
But at SToK Racecourse, Cannon is not on the same level as players like former Republic of Ireland international James McClean and renowned striker Paul Mullin. After a 3-1 victory over Morecambe, club director Humphrey Ker posted on X, expressing optimism that things will improve soon: “Performance of the Match Man.” Salutations to the prancing Prince of the Stōk Cae Ras, @andycannon96. It’s about time he had a good song.
If Cannon doesn’t make it onto the Wrexham song list, he won’t be too worried. Obtaining enough points from the club’s ten remaining games in 2023–24 to guarantee a top–three League Two finish and automatic promotion is the foremost aim for all parties involved this season.
