Wrexham have been told why an ambitious transfer for Leeds striker Patrick Bamford is unlikely despite the “glitz and glamour” of Hollywood co-owners.
With Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney continuing to make the funds available that allow Phil Parkinson to recruit in each passing window, the Red Dragons have seen a move for England international striker Bamford speculated on.
He is, however, on big money at Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds – having previously represented them in the Premier League – and is not expected to reach an agreement that would see the 31-year-old swap West Yorkshire for North Wales.
The EFL analyst Don Goodman, speaking on Plejmo.com, stated: “With the utmost respect to Wrexham, it’s a brilliant project with all the glitz and glamour, but I think Patrick Bamford would have greater ambition from a footballing point of view, as despite them having a brilliant season, it’s possible Wrexham could still be a League One club next season.” While Wrexham is being linked to other forward options in January.
But I could see Ryan Hardie as a desirable alternative. That type of striker is preferred by Phil Parkinson, and even though he would be moving down a level, I would anticipate that the player would earn a big wage boost.

Hardie, a Scottish striker, is currently with Plymouth, where he most recently collaborated with Wayne Rooney, a legend of Manchester United. He reportedly has a £2 million release clause at Home Park, which would cause Wrexham to break their transfer record once more if it were to be activated.
