Wrexham are keen to bring back Arsenal loanee Arthur Okonkwo this summer but face competition from elsewhere, as per a report by the Daily Mail.
Wrexham landed the stopper on loan last year and he has since been a key player at the Racecourse Ground.
Okonkwo, 22, is heading back to the Emirates Stadium now following the Red Dragons’ 2-1 win over Stockport County over the weekend.
Here is a look at three options Phil Parkinson should consider if he can’t get him back…
Chris Maxwell
The Welshman rose up through the academy ranks at Wrexham and played 85 games for them earlier in his career. He has since gone on to have spells at Fleetwood Town, Preston North End, Blackpool and now Huddersfield Town.
However, he is mainly used as back-up by his current club and the door could swing open for his former team to bring him back as they prepare for life in League One. He is a vastly experienced stopper who has played just under 500 games to date.
He has fallen down the pecking order at Hull City this term behind Ryan Allsop and Ivor Pandur and with the likes of Timothee Lo-Tutala and Harvey Cartwright returning to the MKM Stadium from their loans at Doncaster Rovers and Grimsby Town respectively, Liam Rosenior may need to trim down the size of his goalkeeping department.
Ingram, 30, would be an eye-catching addition for Parkinson’s side and would be a safe pair of hands for them between the sticks. He won the third tier title with the Tigers back in 2021 so knows what it takes to get up to the Championship.
The 24-year-old should leave Chelsea on a permanent basis in the next transfer window. He has spent this campaign with Oxford United, having previously had loan spells at Stevenage, Gillingham and MK Dons in the Football League.
He would be ideal for Wrexham as he already knows the league and has potential to get better in the future. His contract at Stamford Bridge expires in late June meaning he would be available on a free transfer.
