Des Buckingham confirms star player availability for weekend clash#

For this weekend’s trip to Wycombe Wanderers by Oxford United, WILL Goodwin is expected to be available.

The 21-year-old striker replaced Tyler Goodrham in the last 30 minutes of play to make his U.S. debut against Blackpool.

But after recovering from a quad injury, it was decided to protect the centre forward, and as a result, he was not included in the matchday roster when United defeated Wigan Athletic in the middle of the week.

Before the Latics victory, Goodwin trained as usual, and is in

Des Buckingham, the head coach of United, stated yesterday afternoon that Goodwin is available. He is very much in the running because he trained on Tuesday and recently finished a training session with us there.

Buckingham played it cool when asked if Goodwin would start or come off the bench, saying, “We’ll see, we’ll see.”

After the Latics victory, Buckingham clarified that Goodwin was left off the matchday roster in order to reduce the possibility of an injury setback.

He stated: “The medical team thought it was better to get him right because it’s Saturday, Tuesday, and Saturday.” We could have played him, but since it’s too fast, too early, and you’re putting him in danger, you probably lose him for Saturday.

Goodwin, who scored six goals in 16 Sky Bet League One games this season for Cheltenham Town, signed with the U’s last month.
