Wanderers are hoping that Dion Charles’s knee injury, which kept him off the pitch against Wycombe, won’t be a major problem.
The 17-goal Northern Ireland international injured himself during the second half of last night’s match, but he left the pitch on his own initiative following medical advice.
Speaking following the final whistle, Ian Evatt expressed confidence that the issue would not be serious but he would hold off on making a decision until Wednesday, when Charles would be examined by medical personnel once more.
“That is good news, positive news, that Dion felt his MCL (medial cruciate ligament) with that block tackle in the second half, but it looks like it has settled pretty quickly,” he said.
“We are quite confident that he will be OK, but we won’t know the extent until the morning.”
George Thomason will miss three games for Wanderers following his red card against Northampton, which means he will miss Tuesday’s trip to Cambridge United and Saturday’s home match against Charlton Athletic.
Evatt stated: “We don’t really get an explanation—we just get a yes or no. We obviously lost the appeal with George. That disappoints me because I believe there were sufficient reasons to have it reversed, but we must accept and honour the ruling.
“He has missed three games so far, the first one being tonight.”
The Bolton manager could also be suspended, though that decision won’t be made right away.
The Wanderers are currently putting together their own defence after the FA notified them of the referee’s report, which claims that “foul and abusive language” was used during the halftime break at Sixfields.
If found guilty Evatt would face a touchline ban and most likely a fine.
“With me, we had something through today and I completely disagree with the referee’s account of what happened – in fact there wasn’t a great deal there,” he said.
“What we have to do now is I will send back a not guilty plea and we will see what the next stage is, but I am guessing I will get a personal hearing and we will be able to speak about that nearer the time.
“We will respond and see what happens.”
