Fresh evidence emerge as teen footballer dies after playing match#

A teenage footballer described as “one of the nicest people” and a “role model” has died after playing a game of football.

Adam Ankers, a football player for the Wycombe Wanderers foundation team, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 5, after a game.

“Yesterday we lost my son Adam who passed away after playing football, the sport he loved,” his father Alistair Ankers wrote.

“We adore him dearly, and his passing is heartbreaking.

He concluded: “He will always be with us and never forgotten.”

Adam meant “so much” to the Wanderers, according to manager Matt Bloomfield, who was also a fan.

Speaking to the press ahead of the Chairboys’ home clash against promotion-pushing Peterborough United on February 10, Bloomfield said: “We’re devastated to hear the news about Adam.

“To lose someone who means so much to the club and who the club meant so much to at such a young age…I’m devastated.

“Our condolences go out to the family as the loss they’re suffering now is huge.

In an X post by his father, his father Alastair said: “We love him so much and the loss is devastating.

“He will always be with us and never forgotten.”

“This helps put things in perspective because life and family are much more important than football.

“He played football for the foundation and supported his team, and he spent his life doing something he loved. If that can provide the family with some solace during this terrible time, then we hope it can.

Many people hold this football team in high regard, so we must unite and draw strength from one another during these trying times.

“We’re thinking of them right now,” he said, adding, “the football club does give opportunities for football families to come together and mourn.”

On the social media site X, thousands of people responded to Mr. Ankers’ post with condolences.

“Adam was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and was always so humble and down to earth,” Charlie Goff wrote. It has been a pleasure to cover his football career over the past year and to call him a “mate.” He is an inspiration to young players.

Adam was described as a “beautiful young man” by someone else.

One woman went on, saying, “We are devastated; Adam was a lovely boy.”

Adam was a season ticket holder at the club in addition to belonging to the Wycombe foundation.
