MATT’S WIGAN REACTIONS ON THE SCORES.

After 20 extra minutes due to a delay imposed by the referee, Wigan Athletic defeated Wycombe Wanderers with what is thought to be the most recent goal in EFL history.

Only a few days prior, 102 minutes had passed when Oli McBurnie’s equaliser for Sheffield United against West Ham was scored, setting a new premier league record. Nevertheless, Charlie Hughes broke Wycombe hearts in the 110th minute, and Wigan left it much later.

Ten minutes into the second half, referee Adam Herczeg was hurt, causing a delay at the DW Stadium on Tuesday night. Hughes found the net after more than the minimum of 19 minutes had elapsed when the timer went up for extra time at the end of the game.

That was the only goal of the match, and it helped the Latics win the league by 1-0 for the second time in a row. Despite their FA Cup elimination at the hands of Manchester United, Shaun Maloney’s team has now gone five games without a loss in League One.

players from both teams and seeming to be struck in the head. After a few cries for a qualified official in the crowd to take over fourth official duties in turn, Steven Rushton eventually took over, and it appeared as though Rushton would wind up supervising a goalless draw.

Towards the end of the match, Wycombe was unable to clear their lines as Wigan scored a deep free-kick. With some cunning out on the right, Callum McManaman created space for a cross, and Hughes met his delivery with a precise volley to throw the home crowd into frenzy.
