A former Wycombe Wanderers midfielder has joined a side playing in the Israeli Premier League.
On January 31, Dennis Adeniran, who played for Adams Park during the Chairboys’ Championship run in 2020–21, signed a contract with Hapoel Petah Tikva.
After being released by Sheffield Wednesday, he joined for Portimonense S.C. in Portugal, and he is now playing for the Middle Eastern team.
He signed a three-year contract at first, but after making just one appearance for the Mediterranean team in less than half of the season, he transferred to Israel on a two-year option to extend his contract.
Adenrian began his career with Fulham before signing a contract with Everton before moving overseas.
Following four years at Goodison Park without a single first-team appearance, he signed a loan with Wanderers and appeared in 22 games during their inaugural season in the English football league’s second division.
Even though he made an impression at Adams Park, then manager Gareth Ainsworth did not force him to go; instead, he signed a free move to Sheffield Wednesday.
He made 51 appearances and netted seven goals in his two years in Yorkshire.
After the Owls overcame Barnsley in the May final, he was also awarded a League One play-off medal.
