Shamal George and Caleb Taylor’s squad numbers at Wycombe
Wycombe Wanderers have confirmed the squad numbers for the club’s latest acquisitions.
On Transfer Deadline Day, the Adams Park team matched the release clause of Livingston goalkeeper Shamal George, and they also confirmed the signing of Caleb Taylor, a defender for West Bromwich Albion, for an undisclosed sum.
The latter is on a season-long loan at Adams Park.
Their new roster for the season has been revealed since their arrivals. George, the custodian, will wear number 19, which was last worn by Freddie Potts, the 2023–24 Player of the Year, while Taylor will wear number 37.
Livingston’s first-team manager David Martindale told the club’s website: “We knew this was always potentially on the cards and Jerome (Prior) was already recruited and in place for this eventuality, so we’ve been planning internally for Shamal’s release clause being triggered after relegation.
“Of course, the timing isn’t great but that’s football and we’re prepared and ready to move on.
“Shamal goes with our best wishes and for me, he really grew into the role week-on-week and became a very consistent and dependable goalkeeper as our number 1.
“He will be a loss no doubt, but Jerome has the opportunity now to become the number 1 and a fan favourite.
“We’re losing a top goalkeeper in Shamal but we’re in a good place and have been planning this behind the scenes for a number of months already.”
