A person had to be released from a vehicle by firefighters as a main Somerset road was closed in both directions following a crash. Traffic was moving slowly on the A37 Ilchester Road in Yeovil this afternoon (Wednesday July 24).
According to reports, the road is blocked both ways between the Yeovil Marsh turn off and Coppits Hill Lane. Google Maps reports heavy congestion in the area and firefighters confirmed three vehicles were involved.
Traffic monitor Inrix says: “A37 Ilchester Road in both directions blocked, slow traffic due to accident from Yeovil Marsh turn off to Coppits Hill Lane.”
Police officers were called to the two-vehicle collision at around 1.30pm. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said no one is believed to have sustained serious injuries in the crash.
They said: “We were called at around 1.30pm today (Wednesday July 24) to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the A37 Ilchester Road, in Yeovil.”We do not believe anyone was seriously injured and the road, which was initially closed, has since been reopened.”
