Road closed as man dies in fatal crash in Yeovil

A 75-year-old has died after a car crashed into two signposts.

Just before 15:15 GMT on Friday July 2024, there was a complaint of a crash involving a black Jeep on Hendford Hill in Yeovil. Police were rushed to the scene.
After receiving medical attention from paramedics at the scene near the Quicksilver roundabout, the guy was transferred to a hospital where he later passed away.
Anybody with knowledge regarding the collision is urged to come forward by the police.

A MAN has died after a crash near Sherborne on Friday afternoon

The incident, at around 4pm, happened on the A30 at Babylon Hill, near the junction with Marl lane.
It involved a blue Mini Cooper and a blue Volvo articulated lorry.

The driver of the Mini, a Yeovil man aged in his 20s, was taken by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital in Bristol having sustained serious injuries.

He passed away in hospital on Wednesday evening, police said, with his family being supported by specially-trained officers.

Sergeant Geraint Butler, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the young man who sadly died, and officers are doing all they can to support the family at this extremely difficult time.

“We owe it to them to conduct a detailed investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I would again urge any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage of the incident to please come forward.

According to the information we have so far gathered from our inquiries, we suspect that at least two cars in the area may have had witnesses who we haven’t been able to locate. We kindly request that these individuals get in touch with us.

Additionally, we are aware that an off-duty nurse arrived on the scene to offer aid, and we would be happy to speak with them and get their perspective.

Additionally, I would ask anyone who was travelling on the A30 between Yeovil and Sherborne at the time of the collision to please check any dashcam footage they may have of the vehicles involved to see if they have any relevant footage, including any footage of their movements before the collision.
