Following a serious crash, a Yeovil man was airlifted to a hospital in a critical condition. Just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, a blue Mini Cooper and a blue Volvo articulated lorry collided on the A30 at Babylon Hill, which is located in Dorset, just across the border.
Following the dispatch of emergency personnel, the twentysomething Mini driver was transported to Bristol’s Southmead Hospital with potentially fatal injuries. Dorset Police said they have informed his family. The driver of the lorry escaped injury from the collision.
While emergency personnel responded to the scene and a crash investigation was conducted, roads surrounding the crash site were closed off. This was lifted at approximately 11:20 p.m. An appeal has been made by Dorset Police for any eyewitnesses to come forward.
“We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I am appealing to any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us,” stated Roads Policing Team Sergeant Mark Scammell. Additionally, if any drivers have any relevant dashcam footage, please let me know.
“Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to the public for their understanding and patience during the several hours that this incident resulted in the closure of a major road. The closure was required to enable the safe response of emergency services and to conduct a thorough investigation of the collision scene.
