Two Couples face charges in court due to the death of a baby in Yeovil
At Yeovil District Hospital today, July 28, 2024, Daniel Gunter, 25, and Sophie Staddon, 20, are charged with Brendon Staddon’s death.
They are also accused of permitting or causing Brendon’s death.
During a hearing at Bristol Crown Court on Friday, Mr. Gunter entered a not guilty plea to both charges, while Ms. Staddon did not enter a plea to any charge.
On June 15, Brendon was delivered prematurely and passed away in the hospital.
According to the second charge, they either contributed to Brendon’s death or failed to shield him from a foreseeable “significant risk of serious physical harm” because they “were a member of the same household as and had frequent contact” with him.
Judge William Hart fixed a two-week trial before a High Court judge to begin on 1st September, with an earlier hearing scheduled for August.
