On Monday, Daniel Gunter, 25, and Sophie Staddon, 20, were accused with killing a child and causing or permitting their death.
Brendon Staddon passed away on Tuesday following an incident at Yeovil District Hospital, according to Avon and Somerset Police.
The medical staff had phoned the officers, the force said.
Police stated the baby passed away at approximately 5:00 PM GMT.
Both Mr. Gunter and Ms. Staddon, who do not have a fixed residence, appeared briefly earlier at Taunton Magistrates’ Court and were remanded in custody pending their Monday hearing at Bristol Crown Court.
“This is a particularly tragic case in which a very young baby has died, and our thoughts are with Brendon’s loved ones during this time,” stated senior investigating officer Det Insp Mark Newbury.This week, we have been conducting investigations at the hospital, and we are appreciative of the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and its employees for helping us to accomplish this.”
