Fatal crash in York as man found dead

NEWS QUEEN CITY, SC (YORK COUNTY)— A accident on Friday afternoon claimed the life of a man from Lancaster, according to the York County Coroner’s Office.

Following a collision on May 31 on Hands Mill Highway (SC Hwy 274) close to Concord Road, Lancaster resident Ricardo Gomez Garcia, 40, was pronounced deceased at the scene.


Authorities claim Garcia’s vehicle struck a truck head-on, but they offered no further details.

The collision is being looked into by the Coroner’s Office and the State Highway Patrol.

CN2 NEWS YORK, S.C. One individual has died, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, when the car they were driving drove off the road last night, April 4, at about nine o’clock at night.

The 1988 Chevy Pickup off the road, overcorrected, struck an embankment, and overturned as the driver, 32, of York County was travelling north on Hwy 49 close to Saddle Drive, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The driver died at the scene from his injuries. The York County Coroner’s Office has not published the driver’s name.

The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are still looking into this collision.
