Jerry Allen was last seen at the York American Legion on Wednesday at approximately eleven a.m. According to the police, his body was found on Thursday at around 2:00 p.m.
Maine’s YORK The body of a missing man who was last seen on Wednesday afternoon in York has been discovered.
Jerry Allen, 76, was last seen at the York American Legion about 11 a.m. on Wednesday. The Maine Warden Service and the York Police Department were looking for him, the warden service announced on social media.
Officials believed Allen left his home on foot sometime during the daylight hours Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from York police. Police said his vehicle and personal belongings were still at his home.
Police issued an update that Allen was found dead at about 2 p.m. Thursday. Information about where his body was located and the cause and manner of his death was not released.
The state medical examiner’s office was notified and the investigation remains ongoing.
“Furthermore, the York Police Department wants to thank our citizens for calls and tips related to this case and we also would like to advise that there is NO THREAT to the public,” York police said in the updated release.
