Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has insisted they are ‘still alive’ in the race for automatic promotion.
Bolton Wanderers are sat in 3rd position in the League One table as they look to get themselves back into the Championship.
With two games remaining in the season, Derby County and the Trotters are separated by three points in second place.
According to the official club website, Evatt stated: “We are still in the season, and this point in the season was critical for us.” While it’s true that we are still waiting for outside assistance, we also need to ensure that we win our games, which we failed to achieve on Tuesday and Saturday despite generally strong performances.
That’s our current situation. We’ve got a second-leg home game (in the play-offs) secured if the automatic selections don’t happen, which we know will be difficult but you never know in football. This game is essential to us and how we do things and how important being at home is with our fans.
Bolton Wanderers still alive
Bolton Wanderers take on Port Vale this weekend and need to take the chase for the top two to the final day.
The Trotters blew their opportunity to close the gap further last time out against Shrewsbury Town at the ToughSheet Community Stadium and could only manage a 2-2 draw.
Port Vale will be tricky opponents as they look to stay up under ex-Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore. They are fighting for their lives and are three points from safety so need to win.
As for Derby County, they head to Cambridge United to lock horns with Garry Monk’s men. A win would put the Rams on the brink
